Description

In 1969 the late King of Iran, Mohammad Reza Shah, arranged for a group of artists to travel to the world’s best fine art Museums so they could study and be more informed so they could create and design a 121meter carpet for the national consultative Assembly. After this educational and informative trip, the Ministry of Culture and Arts set up a competition to design this carpet. The late master Rostam Shirazi won this competition, Master Haghighi who was working at the ministry of culture and Arts was commissioned to weave this carpet. Having had this opportunity any gaining experience. Master Haghighi went on to order Shekar e Charkh carpet to Master Rostam Shirazi. This is the most advanced design in medallion and corner with arabesque design since the Safavid period.
