Description

In designs which a pattern is repeated all over the rug in both longitudinal and transverse directions, is called repetitive (Vagireh) design. As it can be seen motif of Eight-pointed (Octagonal) star is repeated throughout the rug. The motif of the eight-pointed star is one of the most original motifs in Iranian art that it can be seen in the inscriptions of the fifth and sixth centuries. The shape of the eight-pointed star is formed by the rotation of two intertwined squares, which evolved into a circle and later a cross and a star, and was a symbol of the sun, and the number eight has long been considered the symbolic number of the sun around the world. The designer of this art work, using the simple symbol of the eight-pointed star and its artistic combination with decorative flowers and leaves, was able to create a beautiful and different effect of the eight-pointed star design in the art of rug weaving. All of the used fibers are natural and have been dyed with herbal colors and in a natural method in this rug.
